Parents to visit Asyraf in London

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno will be sponsoring the travelling cost of the parents and youngest brother of Muhammad Asyraf Haziq who was attacked by a group of men in the riot in London on Monday, to visit him.

Umno Information Chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan said Umno was compelled to assist Asyraf's family who were worried about the condition of their son and considering they are not from a wealthy family to undertake the RM20,000 trip.

Rossli Harun, the father of Asyraf Haziq is a retired soldier while the mother Maznah Abu Mansoor is a kindergarten teacher.

"The sponsorship is to enable Asyraf's family to make the journey and when in London, their expenditure would be picked up by Umno Club in London," he told reporters after meeting the parents of Asyraf at Putra World Trade Centre, here today.

Ahmad, who is also the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, said he had been informed that Asyraf Haziq had succesfully undergone an operation at London Royal Hospital and Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) will undertake all medical cost for Muhamad Asyraf.

"As parents of Muhamad Asraf, we wish to thank Umno because we did not expect Umno to also undertake the cost of Asraf's youngest brother for the trip as he is sad over the plight of his brother," Rossli said.
