Ministry: EGM delay won’t affect Bursa listing of Felda Holdings

KUANTAN: The listing of Felda Global Ventures Holdings on Bursa Malaysia is still on track despite the recent postponement of Koperasi Permodalan Felda’s (KPF) extraordinary general meeting, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Ahmad Maslan.
He said Thursday’s meeting had to be cancelled because KPF needed more information in order to have the EGM.
“Currently we cannot release all information as it is under the Securities Commission’s scrutiny. We are still negotiating and preparing the documents, so we cannot reveal all the facts to the members.
“If we cannot do that, we doubt that the members will give us the support as hoped. I personally have called KPF’s board of directors and explained to them the Government’s intention,” said Ahmad after a walkabout at Terminal Darul Makmur here yesterday.
He said the EGM would be held in about one or two months while everything would be settled by April.
Commenting on the four Felda settlers’ recent injunction application to stop the meeting, Ahmad said the KPF members should obtain the correct information before doing that.
“The listing is actually for their own benefit.
“If they do not want the windfall, it is okay,” he said.
The application had since been withdrawn but the settlers vowed to file another one should KPF hold another EGM.
