Felda Sahabat repaired 1,300 homes of poor families in Sabah
KOTA KINABALU -- Felda Sahabat has repaired 1,300 homes of poor families in Sabah while another 300 more will be completed by year-end, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Ahmad Maslan last night.
He said RM24 million or 30 per cent of profits made by Felda Sahabat, were being used to facilitate the agency's corporate social responsibility, at 16 parliamentary constituencies in the state.
"Previously, Felda appointed a contractor to do the repairs. However, under the blue ocean strategy, the project was carried out as a gotong-royong with agencies under my care.
"For this project, Felda allocated funds from its profits while the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) are doing the repairs as part of their noble effort and the National Civics Bureau (BTN) gathers the public to join in the gotong-royong," he said during a function with the media here.
In implementing the strategy practiced under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Ahmad also introduced the Reduce, Increase, Create and Eliminate (RICE) formula in a move to perform their tasks more effectively and comprehensively.
